Steiner was given the task of remodelling the nurses' residence of the retirement home into 2- and 2½-room assisted living apartments. The reconstruction makes the newly installed washrooms directly accessible from the patient rooms. The cafeteria is also being reconfigured and the old kitchen and mechanical and electrical installations replaced.

A day care centre is housed in the new prefabricated wood annexe. The redesigned surroundings make it possible for residents to enjoy a variety of outdoor activities. To comply with the brief 11-month construction timetable, the entire nursing unit has been relocated to a temporary accommodation.
