The ground-breaking ceremony was held today for the attractive "am Badweg" housing development in Seengen in the Canton of Aargau. The scheme, developed by design-and-build contractor Steiner AG, comprises a historic residence containing three dwelling units and a new-build block with 11 quality owner-occupied apartments. Not only can future residents look forward to a vibrant symbiosis of classic and modern, they will also be treated to unbeatable views of the nearby Hallwilersee. The works are scheduled for completion by the third quarter of 2019.
The next 18 months will see the creation of a "dream" living environment with unblockable views at a unique site on the edge of Seengen (Aargau). The historic building, which once served as a bathing villa and inn, is to be preserved and its three apartments and ancillary spaces upgraded to present-day standards. Adjacent to this, Steiner AG is building a modern apartment block with 11 upmarket owner-occupied units. The two buildings overlook a spacious garden area, which will serve as a harmonious linking element and invite the residents to sit and relax.
The facade of the existing building will be retained in accordance with architectural conservation requirements and the distinctive chestnut tree in the forecourt preserved. The building interior will undergo complete refurbishment to exploit the full potential of the three 4.5- to 5.5-room apartments. The spacious, contemporarily styled rooms will provide a bright and elegant environment. The directly adjoining new block will house a total of 11 owner-occupied apartments. With 3.5 to 4.5 rooms each, they will be fitted with continuous south-facing window fronts. Apart from the spacious living, dining and kitchen areas, the apartments also feature glazed and open balcony areas and provide direct private access to the basement car park. The standard of fit-out is also impressive: all apartments are provided with two wet areas and a separate storeroom with washer-dryer stack.
Rural yet central
Seengen is beautifully situated at the northern end of the Hallwilersee. In addition to the captivating lakeshore, the village features a wealth of local recreational attractions and, of course, the local landmark – Schloss Hallwyl. The village centre, with its ample shopping facilities, the boat landing stage and the ladies' swimming baths, is within a few minutes' walk of the "am Badweg" site. While it does not suffer heavy through traffic, this Aargau municipality with its nearly 4,000 residents is well served by public transport and is close to the national motorway network. Thus Aarau is only a short journey away, while Zurich and Lucerne are also within easy reach.
Demand for these apartments is very positive: five of the 14 flats have already been sold or are reserved.
