Zurich/Geneva, 11 May 2017 – With the major structural work now finished, the construction site in the new “Jean-Jacques Rigaud” residential district of Chêne-Bougeries in the Canton of Geneva is progressing according to schedule. By September 2017, total contractor Steiner AG will have completed 140 Minergie-certified units for the project owner, Florissana SA. Spread over seven buildings, the apartments will then be available for rent.
Construction began on this large site in February 2016 as part of a project that places an emphasis on sustainable development and quality of life for future tenants and those who live in the area. Thus, the seven buildings blend easily into their surroundings. While a large communal garage makes 147 parking spaces available underground, pedestrianised green areas will provide a pleasant place for people to meet and will encourage “soft mobility”. Ideally situated close to shops and schools, the new district will also have excellent access to both public and private transport.
Encouraging communities to mix
Functional and practical, the new apartments come in different formats to accommodate families as well as households of all ages and sizes, and range from 2-room to 6-room apartments, spread over seven buildings. Five of these buildings are classified as rental development zones (ZD Loc.). Of the remaining two, one is classified as mixed occupancy housing (HM) and one as public utility housing (LUP). The apartments will be available for rent through the NAEF rental agency (tel. 022 839 37 37).
With the major structural works completed and a first, important milestone having been reached, Steiner AG will hold the traditional topping-out celebration on 11 May 2017. Construction work will then continue as scheduled, with full completion and handover expected for September 2017.
