In Liestal (Canton Basel-Land) the topping-out ceremony is being held today for the Weierweg residential development project. Joint hosts are Steiner AG as total contractor along with its client, Basler Insurance. The project encompasses a total of 94 rental apartments and 8 commercial premises located close to the town centre and to Liestal rail station. It combines distinctive architecture with generously designed living environments. Construction work is scheduled for completion by January 2017.
Today Steiner AG and its client, together with their partners, architects, entrepreneurs and representatives of Liestal town council, are celebrating the topping-out of the Weierweg residential development project. The three buildings with a total of 94 rental apartments and 8 premises for light industry and commerce have been under construction since May 2015 and have now reached the shell-and-core phase. Spacious floorplans, high-grade interior finishings and distinctive architecture await the future owners. At the planning stage, great care was taken to ensure that the architecture fits in harmoniously with the overall concept of the district and with the surrounding townscape.
Diverse uses - harmonious appearance
The perimeter block development comprises the three buildings A1, A2 and A3, which have a maximum of four storeys and are grouped around a landscaped traffic-free courtyard. This courtyard also features a climbing area for children. Extending under the entire complex is underground parking for 130 vehicles. On the street side of the development, balconies and loggias are flush with the building sides, whereas on the courtyard side they project out from the façade. The horizontality of the building complex is accentuated by the grouped window units. The alternating rhythm of these horizontal window apertures enlivens the building's façade. Despite the diverse uses - residential and commercial - this design concept gives the entire complex a harmonious overall appearance.
