The Wisli Foundation, a not-for-profit social welfare organisation that provides support and assistance for people with physical and psychological impairments and the socially challenged, will be the anchor tenant in Building A in the Glasi-Quartier development. With its offerings for the general public, the foundation will make an important contribution to the diversity and social mix of this new district in Bülach.
The Glasi-Quartier, a new district with around 560 apartments, businesses, shops and a residential and care centre, is under development in the north of Bülach. At the end of April 2021 and following intensive and constructive negotiations, the real estate developer and total (design-and-build) contractor Steiner AG secured the Wisli Foundation as a long-term tenant. This foundation, which has strong local roots, mainly works with people with psychological impairments. Its focus is on work, integration into the workplace and assisted living. In the new Glasi development, residents and other members of the public will also benefit from the wide range of services provided by Wisli. For example, the foundation plans to relocate its bicycle repair shop to the new district.
An enrichment for the new development
The Wisli Foundation currently has nine different locations in Bülach. It plans to combine eight of these in a “campus” in the Glasi-Quartier. The new, state-of-the-art premises in the “Angelo” office/commercial building (Building A) are ideal for this. “The location has excellent transport connections,” explains the foundation’s managing director, Martin Bieber. “It is only a few minutes’ walk to Bülach station or to the new bus stop which connects it to the centre of Bülach.” The developer, Steiner AG, has already submitted a planning application for Building A and the approval process is under way. Fabian Hasler, Project Manager Sale & Lease at Steiner AG, is pleased that the project for the “Angelo” building is on track: “Now we have paved the way for building work to start as scheduled in spring 2022.”
Satisfactory progress with letting
Although the first commercial units in the Glasi development will only be ready for occupancy stepwise from autumn 2022, Steiner AG has already gained renowned long-term tenants such as Tertianum and Denner AG for more than 50% of the approximately 35,000 m2 of commercial space. “Discussions with other interested parties are at an advanced stage,” adds Fabian Hasler. Flexible, large and small-scale premises are currently still available for cafés, restaurants, shops and other businesses.
