Work begins on the building shell of the Tertianum Venise residential home and care facility in Monthey

The new Tertianum Venise residential home and care facility in Monthey will start to take shape over the next few months, following the beginning of works on the building shell. Commissioned by the client Swiss Prime Site Immobilien Ltd. and in collaboration with the Tertianum Group, which will operate the building, Steiner Ltd is to develop a retirement facility comprising 46 beds, 39 sheltered accommodation units and an underground car park, right in the centre of Monthey.

The work on the shell of the building follows on from the particularly demanding foundation works. These works, extending to a depth of up to 8 metres in places, required extreme precision due to their proximity to the town’s mains services (waste water, electricity and district heating) and to adjacent buildings.

A new residential home and care facility for the town of Monthey
The new residential home and care facility will provide high-quality care for elderly people in a modern setting. The new-build complex will comprise two wings of five floors each.

The ground floor will house the facility’s communal and administrative areas. The first and second floors will accommodate the 46-bed geriatric/geriatric psychiatry wards, while the upper three floors will comprise 39 sheltered housing apartments. The underground car park will extend over two basement levels and will also house all the technical facilities as well as two civil protection shelters. In addition, residents will benefit from the site’s new restaurant: this will also be available to members of the public and will stay open year-round.

Minergie label for optimum comfort
The building fulfils the requirements of the Minergie energy label for optimum comfort and efficient use of resources. Its heating and hot water supplies will be provided by the district heating system. The power supply will be supplemented by an autonomous system based on photovoltaic panels installed on the roof.
