Steiner SA awarded construction contract for the “La Colline des Rêves” project in Epalinges

The general contractor Steiner AG has signed a contract with its client Best House SA of Lausanne for the construction of the “La Colline des Rêves” residential complex in Epalinges. Designed by a Pully-based firm of architects, Archilab Gabriele M. Rossi, the complex comprises 108 apartments distributed across 12 buildings, each with three above-ground storeys. The project also encompasses 108 underground parking spaces. Work will start in February 2017 and is set to be completed by June 2018.
The project’s 12 buildings are set in heavily wooded grounds. The strikingly modern architecture features facades with large overhangs over the three floors; these have necessitated solutions involving novel concrete structures. The project will meet Minergie energy-efficiency standards, with geothermal-based heating. The residential complex is located on the grounds of the villa that once belonged to writer Georges Simenon. A leisure pavilion dedicated to the memory of the author will be built in the southern part of the grounds.
