About us

As developer, total or general contractor, we support the life cycle of real estate: from development to completion and all the way to refurbishment and renovation. Constructive collaboration is essential for us in this endeavour.

A quality which has characterised us since our beginnings in 1915. And which has allowed us to become one of the leading real estate providers in Switzerland. Outstanding results arise from cooperation in a partnership.

Listening and transparency form the foundation for an open, fair dialogue. A dialogue in which we challenge each other to succeed and drive developments forward together. To meet needs in a flexible, competent and reliable way. And to strengthen mutual trust in doing so.

We are present with our offices in the German- and French-speaking areas of Switzerland. Our headquarters are in Zurich. In addition, we are present in India and France with our own subsidiaries. We achieved a revenue of CHF 830.4 million in the financial year 2018/2019, and employ around 600 people.

Our values

Our values define how we create value for our clients. They are the basis on which we build  a strong and shared culture across all functions and regions.

Acting in a way that is challenging means bringing the drive to succeed to life by placing the highest demands on both ourselves and our partners.

Acting in a way that is constructive means fostering transparency and respectful collaboration to develop solutions that offer added value for all partners.

Acting in a way that is forward-thinking means anticipating needs and requirements and using this as an impetus to promote intelligent solutions.

Acting in a way that is passionate means sharing our enthusiasm for our work with all partners and using this to drive success.

Sustainability and engagement

Opening up new perspectives – safeguarding the future

Sustainable development contains three equally important aspects: ecology, social issues and economy. For project development, this means that we are already involved in promoting sustainable sites in the selection of properties. Flexible layouts, a good mixture of users, a high aesthetic standard and low life cycle costs are additional criteria. We recommend planning and realising all buildings according to recognised or international sustainability Labels.

And we manage these processes competently from the planning stage to completion of the project until receipt of the respective certification. We emphasise tried-and-tested constructions made of environmentally compatible materials and – when possible and reasonable – using local resources. We specify ecologically compatible materials in invitations to tender. And we pay attention to perfect, professional work in the realisation. Because buildings certified as sustainable guarantee their value. Now and in the future.

We further our goal of acting sustainably and being an environmentally and socially aware company by supporting charitable activities. Every year, as part of a Christmas donations campaign, Steiner AG employees choose a socially useful project that they want to assist by making a voluntary donation. Steiner then doubles the amount raised. We were thus able to donate significant sums to the “123 Burkina” charity in 2016, to “Stiftung Theodora” in 2017 and to "Rèves Suisse" in 2018.

The name Steiner has been closely connected with the Swiss real estate and construction industries and their progressive development since the beginning of the last century.

Established in 1915 as a one-man joinery shop, the company has become one of the country's leading developers and general contracting companies over the course of three generations.

After Hindustan Construction Company Ltd. (HCC) acquired a majority interest in Steiner in 2010, Steiner Group continues with the same high degree of reliability and competence that Steiner has always offered as a partner in addressing the full spectrum of real estate development and total contractor services.

Steiner AG celebrated its centenary in 2015 and has taken this as an opportunity to launch a microsite. This site offers exciting insights into the company's eventful history.
