Adlergarten Winterthur: Unirenova awarded full service contract

Unirenova, a division of Steiner AG, has been awarded the full service contract for the Adlergarten Nursing Home in Winterthur. The contract was signed at the end of December 2011.

From 2012 to 2014, the Adlergarten Nursing Home will be renovated and comprehensively rehabilitated by Unirenova and the full service team with Itten+Brechbühl AG as architects. In the process, the premises and sanitary facilities will be brought into line with modern standards. The building and all infrastructure will receive a complete overhaul.

Approaches to the care and treatment of the elderly have changed radically in recent years. Users have also become more demanding. The original hospital-like construction is no longer able to adequately meet the spatial and sanitary needs of modern long-term care and treatment. The number of beds per room will therefore be reduced, and all rooms will be equipped with separate bathrooms. In addition, the small lounges in the nursing departments will be completely renovated and expanded.

Construction time will include the erection of a provisional structure, from April to October 2012. Work on the main building will be carried out from November 2012 to August 2014. The client is the department for social services, old age and care of the city of Winterthur.
