Certifications
Steiner Group proud of its triple certification
Karl Steiner AG is the first total contractor/general contractor in Switzerland to receive all three certificates for quality management, occupational health and safety, and
environmental management. Recertification for quality management (ISO 9001) was followed by the initial certification for occupational health and safety policies (OHSAS
18001) in 2005 and, at the end of 2006, by the initial certification for environmental management policy (ISO 14001).
Environmental friendliness a criterion when awarding contracts
Besides advising clients, promoting environmental awareness and conducting systematic construction site audits at frequent intervals, another important issue is continuous
training to upgrade employee skills and knowledge. An explicit criterion included in the terms of tender issued by Steiner Group concerns the use of green construction
materials by subcontractors.
Minergie label
At clients' request Steiner will adhere to Minergie construction standards. Minergie-certified buildings consume no more than 42 kW per m2 of floorspace during the
course of a year. Examples of low-energy projects realized by Steiner are the Leonardo commercial and services building in Zurich - the largest Minergie-compliant
building in Switzerland upon completion - the Ernst Schweizer AG office and factory site in Möhlin and the Hädrichpark residential property in
Zurich-Albisrieden.
Other low-energy labels are Minergie P, Minergie ECO and Passivhaus.
